From day 1, Ascent has been focused on delivering unparalleled workplace legal services while minimizing the environmental impact in doing so. Therefore, in 2021, we set two goals:
Measure our firm’s carbon footprint; and
Take steps to reduce that carbon footprint.
With the help of GreenStep Solutions, we measured our direct emissions (natural gas consumption) and indirect emissions (electricity, purchased goods and services, capital goods, fuel and energy-related activities, waste in operations, business travel, and employee commuting), following the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard.
Next, Ascent worked with Ostrom Climate Solutions, Canada’s leading carbon management solutions provider, to reduce our carbon footprint. Ostrom’s projects are all third-party validated and verified to ensure that their impact is real, additional and permanent.
As a result of these steps, we are proud to say that we offset all of our carbon emissions plus an additional 10%.
Ascent Employment Law was not only carbon neutral for 2021; we were climate positive!
