Welcome to the next installment of our “core values” series, in which we outline the values that form the foundation of Ascent Employment Law.
Today we will touch on why and how Humanity and Care is an unwavering requirement for our team.
Firstly, let’s be sure we are clear on one thing. Acting with Humanity and Care does not mean that everything is rosy and without difficulty; quite the opposite in fact.
At Ascent, we acknowledge that we are all human beings with individual needs and interests, and a right to dignity. We are each deserving of care in how we are treated.
As such, we also have to acknowledge that we won’t always understand each other or each other’s needs and positions. Therefore, to solve problems and get to the root of issues, we need to address them openly to improve situations. Therefore, acting with Humanity and Care is not always easy; it can lead to some difficult conversations and hard work.
However, by approaching our work with Humanity and Care, we are able to better meet the needs of our clients and get more meaningful results.
We recommend that employers and employees also try to engage with each other with Humanity and Care through difficult circumstances, to reach mutual goals, and to openly and respectfully discuss things that may not be ideal.
Acting with Humanity and Care does not need to be to the detriment of getting results or making tough decisions. In that respect, you can think of it as an approach through which to properly make decisions with honesty and kindness.
We believe that by engaging in practice (and life) with Humanity and Care, we create better and more fulfilling relationships, achieve better solutions and live in integrity.
Humanity and Care is not always easy…but it is always best.
